How to connect Intercom to Finseo

A few steps to wire up your Intercom account with Finseo. No code required.

    Get your Finseo webhook URL

    In Finseo, click Connect on the Intercom integration card to reveal your project webhook URL.

  2. 02

    Add a custom attribute in Intercom

    In Intercom, go to Settings, then People, then Custom Attributes. Add "How did you find us?" as a text attribute on People.

    Create a webhook subscription

    In Intercom, go to Settings, then Integrations, then Webhooks. Add a webhook pointing to your Finseo URL.

    Select topics

    Subscribe to contact.created. Optionally add conversation.admin.closed for chat conversation attribution.

    Populate the attribute

    Use Intercom Custom Bots to ask "How did you find us?" early in the conversation, or have reps fill it in during qualification. Finseo reads the attribute from every webhook payload.

Via Intercom native webhooks. You register a webhook in Intercom Settings, then Integrations, then Webhooks. The webhook fires on contact and conversation events with the full record JSON. No third party tools required.

Webhooks are available on all Intercom plans including Essential. Custom attributes are also available on all plans. The Finseo integration works regardless of tier.

contact.created, contact.updated, conversation.admin.opened, conversation.admin.closed, conversation.user.created. Most teams subscribe to contact.created for new lead attribution and conversation.admin.closed for chat resolution attribution.

Two options. (1) Add a custom attribute "How did you find us?" on People and have reps fill it in during chat. (2) Use Intercom Custom Bots to ask the question early in the conversation flow and auto save the answer to the attribute. Both work with Finseo.

Both. Subscribe to contact.created for new lead attribution and conversation.admin.closed for resolved conversations. The conversation payload includes the contact, so Finseo ties the conversation back to the contact AI source.

Help Center articles are not in scope for attribution (they are content, not events). However, if a Help Center visit leads to a chat, the contact gets created and the chat triggers a webhook, which Finseo attributes to the source.

Yes. Intercom fires webhooks within 1 to 3 seconds of the trigger event. Finseo processes and updates within 5 to 10 seconds. Total latency is under 15 seconds.

Not currently. Finseo focuses on attribution and AI visibility tracking, not customer support chat. For AI-powered chat replies, use Intercom Fin or other dedicated AI chat tools.
