Linear

Create Linear issues from Finseo visibility tasks with full markdown descriptions, built for engineering teams that ship the technical fixes behind ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini citations.

Overview

What you getwith the Linear integration

Finseo connects to Linear with a personal API key. Every task on the Finseo Tasks page gets an Export to Linear action: pick the target team, optionally an assignee, and Linear receives an issue with the full markdown description including the evidence and recommended steps. Under Tasks, then Automation, rules can turn new tasks into Linear issues automatically, for example every Technical task with high impact goes straight to the engineering team.

Use cases

What you can dowith Linear and Finseo

01

Technical GEO backlog

Route Technical tasks such as structured data, crawlability for GPTBot and ClaudeBot, rendering, or page speed into the engineering team as ready-to-pick issues.

02

Schema and structured data sprints

FAQ, HowTo, Product, and Organization schema tasks land as Linear issues with the affected URLs and the JSON-LD instructions in the description.

03

Crawler access fixes

When Finseo detects AI crawlers being blocked or pages not being fetched, the resulting task becomes a Linear issue for the platform team with the evidence attached.

04

Impact-gated automation

Create a rule for Technical tasks above a minimum impact. Only issues worth engineering time reach Linear, while smaller items stay in Finseo for triage.

05

Product-led content changes

Teams that manage marketing pages in code export Content tasks as Linear issues, so copy and section rewrites go through the normal review and deploy flow.

Workflow examples

What lands in Linearfrom a Finseo task

Finseo turns AI visibility gaps into concrete tasks. Ask for them in the Finseo agent or pick them on the Tasks page, then export to Linear with one click or an automation rule.

You ask Finseo

Create a Linear issue for this task in the Web Platform team

Result

Linear issue with markdown description, evidence, and recommended steps

You ask Finseo

Auto-export all high-impact Technical tasks to Engineering

Result

Automation rule creates a Linear issue for every new matching task

You ask Finseo

Send the Product schema task to Linear and assign it to Jonas

Result

Linear issue with affected URLs and JSON-LD steps, assigned to Jonas

Why it matters

Why Linear customersneed AI visibility tracking

Linear is the issue tracker of choice for many product and engineering teams, and much of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is engineering work: structured data, crawler access for GPTBot and PerplexityBot, server rendering, internal linking, page speed. Finseo generates those tasks from how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, and Microsoft Copilot answer the prompts that matter to you. Turning them into Linear issues with full markdown descriptions means engineers get a normal, well-specified issue instead of a vague request from marketing, and AI visibility work fits into existing cycles.

How to connect

Connect Linear to Finseoin 5 steps, no code required

Step 01

Create a Linear API key

In Linear, open Settings, then Security and access. Under Personal API keys click New API key, name it, and copy the key that starts with lin_api_.

Step 02

Connect in Finseo

Open Integrations, then Linear, then Connect. Paste the key and save.

Step 03

Export a task as an issue

On the Tasks page, open any task and choose Export to Linear. Pick the target team and optionally a Linear assignee.

Step 04

Create an automation rule

Under Tasks, then Automation, add a rule filtered by category and minimum impact, enable Create in PM tool, then Linear, and pick the team.

Step 05

Route by category

Use separate rules per category, for example Technical tasks to the engineering team and Content tasks to the growth team, each with its own default assignee.

FAQ

Linear and AI search visibilityquestions people ask before choosing a tool

Finseo offers a native Linear integration that turns Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) tasks from the Finseo Tasks page into Linear issues with full markdown descriptions, including evidence and recommended steps. The tasks are generated from how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, and Microsoft Copilot answer your prompts, and automation rules can create issues automatically.

Connect Finseo to Linear with a personal API key, then open any task on the Finseo Tasks page and choose Export to Linear. Pick the target team and optionally an assignee, and Linear receives an issue whose markdown description contains the evidence from ChatGPT or Perplexity answers and the recommended steps. Rules can automate this for new tasks.

Yes. Finseo is a Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) tool with a native Linear integration built for engineering teams. Finseo measures whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude cite your brand and turns technical gaps such as schema or crawler access into tasks; Linear is where engineers ship them. Paired, GEO work fits into existing cycles.

In Linear, open Settings, then Security and access, click New API key under Personal API keys, and copy the key starting with lin_api_. In Finseo, open Integrations, then Linear, click Connect, paste the key, and save. Setup takes a few minutes; OAuth tokens from Linear apps are not supported, only personal keys.

Finseo sends data one way, from Finseo to Linear: an issue with a full markdown description containing the recommendation, the evidence that triggered it (for example prompts on ChatGPT or Perplexity where a competitor is cited, or a crawler that cannot fetch a page), the affected URLs, step-by-step instructions, and the chosen assignee. Nothing syncs back.

Yes. The Linear integration and the automation rules are included on every Finseo plan with no per-integration fees. On the Linear side you only need an account with permission to create issues in the target team, which the free Linear plan already provides, plus a personal API key from Settings, then Security and access.

Yes. In Finseo, create an automation rule under Tasks, then Automation for Technical tasks above a minimum impact, select Linear, pick the engineering team, and optionally a default assignee. Structured data, crawlability for GPTBot and ClaudeBot, rendering, and page speed tasks then arrive in Linear as well-specified issues with the affected URLs and JSON-LD instructions.

Linear tracks issues but has no view into how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Google AI Overviews answer questions about your product. Finseo monitors those AI answers, detects gaps such as missing citations or blocked AI crawlers, and generates Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) tasks. The Linear integration turns them into issues engineers can pick up immediately.

Yes. Finseo automation rules can be created per category, so Technical tasks go to the engineering team in Linear and Content tasks to the growth team, each with its own default assignee. Finseo loads the teams your Linear user belongs to; if a team is missing, join it in Linear and reopen the picker.
